Torso police hunt 'violent' gang

An "extremely violent" gang is being hunted by police after a murdered man's torso was dumped in a canal.

Martin Gentles The remains of Marvin Gentles, 28, were found in a shopping bag floating down Regents Canal in Primrose Hill, north London, on Friday.

Mr Gentles, a Jamaican who had been living with his sister in Northolt, north-west London, had been stabbed and had his head and limbs cut off.

Police said he moved to the UK in 2001 and had been dealing in crack cocaine.

Police divers have searched for clues on the canal between Lisson Grove and London Zoo.

It is understood Mr Gentles, also known to friends as "Face", was last seen alive last Tuesday and the shopping bag was spotted in the canal on Thursday.

Det Chf Insp Chris Watts, said: "This is a particularly horrific crime and was a gruesome discovery.

"Marvin has obviously been murdered in the most violent circumstances and in my view by more than one person.

"The people who we are looking for are extremely violent and at large within the community."
